The interior design, finishes and such behind the Urban Series [a video]

If you’ve toured a variety of housing options here in the Boise/Meridian area, you know almost immediately once you step foot inside a home whether you like or dislike it. Why is that? Because beyond the condition and cleanliness, there are some key design elements that speak to your intuitive self. Blackrock’s design team has literally spent hundreds of hours designing and tweaking their Urban Series homes, honing these key areas:

Function and Ergonomics: Urban Series homes were intentionally designed with a smaller footprint in mind, all with 2-car garages. For a two-story home, the entire lot width is around 32 feet, and from left to right the width of the home is approximately 26 feet. All of the bedrooms are on the upper level. When furniture is scaled properly, these floor plans deliver perfectly. These homes appeal to several different demographics because the designs are universal enough to showcase a variety of personal styles. Looking at ergonomics, careful consideration was given to door swings, as one example. When an area was too tight, Blackrock opted to design pocket doors.

Flow: Movement from space to space, air balance and comfort, along with the amount of natural light pouring into a home, were all aesthetic and mechanical considerations that were revisited repeatedly. It’s surprising how only a few extra inches can make a hallway feel more open, or how reeded glass windows can elevate a space with both natural light and privacy. With Blackrock being the only builder in Movado Greens, there is control over side elevation window placements for additional privacy.

Lifestyle: With the low maintenance aspect, these homes require minimal upkeep. Lawncare is provided by the HOA, so homeowners are freed from this routine chore. Other low maintenance features include vinyl exterior siding that does not require repainting, ever; vinyl plank flooring and oftentimes, quartz countertops in the kitchen and bath areas.

Color: There are four interior finish packages within the Urban Series; they all offer the same level of quality, yet differ in color and style. Blackrock’s interior designer chooses which interior finish package is slated for each home, with no observable pattern as to the decision. Each package is neutral and can serve as a quiet backdrop for any personalization.

Below is a brief video that highlights these four interior finish packages. As each home gets closer to completion, the plat map on the community website is populated with information regarding which model and which interior finish package is specified for each respective lot.
